Weddings/Matrimony

The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring. This covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.

Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage with Mass or Liturgy of the Word are asked to enter a process of preparation at least nine months in advance of their intended wedding date.  The bride or groom or the parents of the bride or groom should be registered members of the Church of St. Stephen.

In addition to a few appointments with a priest or deacon, attendance at two Wedding Workshops is required as well as an engaged couples retreat.
