Exciting Changes Ahead for Faith Formation, including a Name Change: Faith Formation is now Faith for Life

The new academic year brings with it a few changes in our Faith Formation Ministries here at St. Stephen. We have a new director, Maredith Toweh, who comes to us with much experience and knowledge and loves her Catholic faith. Also, the name of Faith Formation is changing to “Faith for Life.” This change is to bring awareness that faith is a lifelong encounter with Jesus Christ.

Our faith journey does not end after we receive our sacraments. On the contrary, our sacramental life is just the beginning, which hopefully leads us to conversion and a relationship with Jesus. Faith for Life consists of all our catechetical, theological and sacramental ministries as well as outreach, service, evangelization, vocations, stewardship, and Catholic education, along with youth ministry, just to name a few.

The Faith for Life team is looking forward to ministering with you and your family. They have been working hard over the summer to ensure that all our children, teens, families and volunteers encounter Jesus once again this year. So, if you have not yet registered your children and/or youth for catechism or youth ministry we invite you to do so. You may register on line (ststephenchurch.org/faith-for-life/) or use the paper forms located around the building or download a form from the website. For those of you who have registered, we are so excited to have your family back with us.

Please note, our Tuesday sessions begin September 18, 6:15-7:30 p.m. (parent/guardian meeting while children are in session) and our Wednesday sessions begin September 19, 6:15-7:30 p.m. (parent/guardian meeting while children are in session). Our Sunday School sessions begin September 23, 10:30 a.m. Confirmation Year I and Year II sessions start September 23, 7:15-8:30 p.m. (parent/guardian meeting while youth are in session).

We invite you to join us next Sunday, September 16 for Catechetical Sunday for the 10:30 a.m. Mass. We will be recognizing and commissioning all of our Faith for Life catechists and our Catholic school teachers. Special prayers and petitions will also be offered up for all of our families in our parish and school.

Following all Masses we will have an Open House with Faith for Life staff and catechists. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to meet the staff and volunteers.

Thank you for continuing the promises you made at your child’s baptism to raise them in the faith! We are here to support you and to walk this journey of faith with you and your family. We would also like to ask for you to prayerfully consider volunteering in our Faith for Life ministries. We are in need of more teachers, classroom aides, hall monitors, office workers, hospitality, childcare and most importantly, continued prayers for all those involved in this vital ministry. If you feel called to volunteer in any capacity or have any questions, please contact Maredith Toweh at 763-712-7439 or email her. Training and support are available to all our volunteers.
