Archbishop Bernard Hebda is asking all parishes of the Archdiocese to join with Catholics around the country to take up a second collection on the weekend of September 9-10 for Hurricane Emergency Relief.
The funds given to this collection will support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of Catholic Charities USA, the official domestic relief agency of the US Catholic Church, and will provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses. St. Stephen’s parish will participate in this endeavor.
Please note that on the cover page of the September 3 hard copy bulletin you will see Pro-Life Across America as the recipient of the second collection. As many of you know, our parish does a second collection on the second Sunday of the month and September’s recipient was scheduled to be Pro-Life Across America. Unfortunately the bulletin went to press before we received word from the Archdiocese about Hurricane Relief. So, our second collection September 9/10 will indeed be designated for Hurricane Relief, not Pro-Life Across America.
People can make their checks payable to St. Stephen’s Church with “Hurricane Relief” in the memo line. One big check will be sent to the Archdiocese’s Center for Mission.
Let us continue to pray for all those affected by these natural disasters.
