M Squad is an opportunity for Middle School students to grow in their leadership skills, relationship with God, build community, and have fun! M Squaders participate in an overnight retreat to prepare them for a week of service as Vacation Bible School group leaders. M Squaders are trained and led by High School students.
This is open for all students who will be entering grades 6-8 in the Fall of 2020.
M Squad is typically held in July each summer. The M Squad is a holistic opportunity of real growth for your middle school student. Participants will spend their two day retreat growing in leadership training and getting to know their faith better in a fun environment with their friends. The St. Stephen’s Youth Ministry (SSYM) high school teens along with staff and volunteers from the parish will be in charge of running and supervising this dynamic kick-off. Following the retreat, the M Squad participants will bring their training to real-life practice in a five-day, Vacation Bible School (VBS) day-camp style approach to be held July 29-August 2, 2019.
Each day of VBS, M Squad teams will begin work serving our pre-school and elementary children. In the morning, the M Squad will lead a group of 5-7 children through the VBS activities followed by lunch which is provided every day.
Using a mentoring model, this experience offers your middle school student an opportunity to learn leadership skills that will help them expand their gifts, grow in confidence, and serve the Church in a way that is suitable to their stage of development.
