Church Service Opportunites at St. Stephen's Catholic Community
What You Can Do:
Lector - (must be trained AND training counts towards volunteering hours)
Lectors proclaim the Word of God & usually read the general intercessions at Mass. This is a sacred opportunity to share the scriptures with the congregation & play an important role in the liturgy. Lectors are scheduled approximately every 6-10 weeks & are advised to arrive 15 minutes before the start of Mass.
Usher -
Greet worshippers & direct them to seats, conduct the collections, take offerings to the altar, & generally assist during the liturgy. Time commitment can be each week in one month rotations or once every month & arrival 20 minutes before the start of Mass.
Altar Server (must be trained AND training counts towards volunteering hours) -
Support & assist during the Mass & be an active part of the greatest prayer of all! Servers generally carry the cross & candles in the entrance procession, assist with the holy water, wine, & offertory gifts at Mass, ring the altar bells, etc. Time commitment is approximately one –two Masses a month & arrival 20 minutes before the start of Mass.
Sound Tech -
Help us get the Mass to those still at home and make sure our outdoor attendees can hear the Mass in their cars! Sound techs can serve in a variety of ways:
- Daily Mass Live-stream tech - Run the live-stream for 8 am Daily Mass
- Time Commiment: Approx. 1 hour
- Indoor Masses Live-stream tech - Run the livestream for 5 pm Saturday Evening Mass or the 12:30 pm Spanish Mass
- Time Commitment: Approx. 2 hours
