Adult Small Group Leaders
As a small group adult leader for YDisciple and St. Stephen’s Youth Ministry, you play a vital role in the growth and practice of each participant’s life of faith. You are not only a catechist, but a “missionary disciple” - one who tries to follow Christ daily with all your heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37) and who desires that same love of God be shared with all people you encounter! If you doubt being an “effective” witness to our youth as a small group leader, it is ever more true that God does not call the equipped; He equips the called.
Perhaps God is calling you today to do something great! Relational ministry through these small groups is a fertile environment to witness to young people in your community through genuine relationships, faith-filled content, and Christ-centered mentoring. In ancient times, a mentor-apprentice or rabbi-student relationship was an effective way of educating all people for every profession, especially of educating the youth. In fact, that’s exactly how Jesus called all of his disciples when He ministered in His day, and that’s how He still calls each Christian to a relationship with Him to this day!
You can be the mentor God uses to walk closely with the youth that are assigned to your small group in a special way, unmatched to any other “classroom” dynamic, so you may powerfully lead, teach, support and love each participant with God’s grace!
If you wish to be an adult small group leader, you must be at least 18 years old and have completed (and are up-to-date with) safe environment training through the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis. To become an adult small group leader, or for more information about YDisciple, please contact your Youth Ministry Coordinator Randy Skeate.
