Just for Parents
At St. Stephen’s Catholic Community, we recognize that programs don’t make disciples - disciples do. As parents, you are likewise disciples of Jesus, and as the primary educators of your children, you are an integral part of your teen’s faith formation! As you continue to walk with your high school student through their faith life, St. Stephen’s Youth Ministry would love to provide you with all the support you need and desire.
What is YDisciple, and what are “small groups”?
Each YDisciple participant is in a small group of 6-8 students total, with one adult leader from the parish helping lead the group during each session. Sessions are every other week in the evenings over Zoom. Your child will need the Zoom app on their computer or smartphone before meeting in the sessions, and meeting over Zoom and the YDisciple program is no cost to you. Before meeting each session, the adult leader from their small group over Zoom will schedule each session meeting and send meeting invitations to each participant via email. Once the student clicks the invitation link on the email, the Zoom app will automatically open and the student will wait in the “waiting room” until the adult leader begins the session.
Parents will be interactively involved in what your child is discussing with their small groups every session. The small group adult leader will send an email to parents at the end of each session with further parent resources, discussion questions and a brief “recap” of the content of the evening session. This fosters faith-filled discussion in the home in between every time your child meets in small group.
For further questions or concerns regarding the technology of YDisciple and Zoom, or for further questions about YDisciple and small groups in general, please contact your Youth Ministry Coordinator Randy Skeate.
