Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center
Mass or Word and Communion Service offered weekly. One-on-one visits scheduled upon request, through the Chaplain at the treatment center.
Anoka County Jail
Word and Communion Services offered two times each month.
One-on-one visits may be arranged by request through the Activities Coordinator at the jail.
Mercy Hospital
St. Stephen’s brings Holy Communion to all Catholic patients on Mondays, Thursdays, and one Sunday a month. Please be sure that you list your religious affiliation as Catholic when you go through the check-in process at the hospital. (Other parishes are also involved in serving this need so that on most days, communion is available.) Additional visits upon request by calling the Parish Office at 763-421-2471.
Homebound
Volunteers are assigned to bring Holy Communion to the homebound. This can be long-term or temporary. To make a request, call the Parish Office at 763-421-2471.
Other Opportunities to Serve in the Community
ACBC Food Shelf located in Anoka. Call 763-422-0046 to sign up for hours before volunteering. Work includes stocking shelves and packing groceries.
Alexandra House located in Blaine. Teens must be accompanied by a parent or other adult. Work includes sorting and shelving donations. Contact their Volunteer Coordinator at 763-656-1368.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) located in Coon Rapids. People can volunteer alone at various times throughout the day or with WHO group the first Wednesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Work includes packing food. Contact FMSC at 763-951-7310 or you can also register to volunteer online at volunteer.fmsc.org.
Hope 4 Youth in Anoka. This is a drop-in resource center for homeless youth. The volunteer positions they are formally accepting applications for are directly in the Drop-In Resource Center. They are always in need of knowledgeable and compassionate Center Leads and Center Mentors who want to help our youth get their basic needs met and personal goals reached. Stepping Stone Emergency Housing in Anoka. Stepping Stone is the only adult homeless shelter in Anoka County. It’s a dormitory-style shelter that provides a primary, yet temporary, address for 60 men and women. For more information call 763-323-7006 or visit steppingstoneeh.org.
