Seeking Food Services Director for St. Stephen's Catholic School.

St. Stephen’s Catholic School is looking for an organized, experienced Food Services Director to manage the school’s hot lunch program. This is a full-time 10-month position.

Position Responsibilities

The Hot Lunch Food Services Director position is to provide food service for the Pre-K through 8th-grade school program which includes creating, planning, and developing nutritional, economical, and attractive hot lunch meals for the school.

  • Promote St. Stephen’s hot lunch program to encourage maximum participation
  • Possess the Managers Serve Safe License from the State of Minnesota
  • Maintain a sanitary kitchen including appropriate food handling procedures, food storage, and cleanliness
  • Manage and procure food ordering and supplies
  • Food preparation, serving, and cleanup
  • Management and supervision of school kitchen staff
  • Compile daily reports as required
  • Manage waste reduction efforts
  • Ability to learn the school hot lunch data management program
  • Maintain knowledge of school events, activities, and schedules pertaining to the lunch program
  • Comply with state and federal rules and regulations
  • Participate in the reimbursement program for free and reduced lunch prices and the commodity programs
  • Manage hot lunch budget, which includes ongoing analysis of income and expense controls
  • Meet with Principal regularly on budget and department management

Daily Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food
  • Determine quantity and order food as needed
  • Supervise, direct and participate in kitchen clean up
  • Schedule staff to meet job expectations
  • Compile daily and monthly hot lunch records
  • Complete reports as required for federal disbursement and commodity programs
  • Create monthly menus for distribution and publication
  • Promote nutrition, health, and wellness information in school communications

Financial Responsibilities

  • Manage timekeeping and payroll costs of the kitchen staff
  • Manage budgeted revenue and expenses for hot lunch program
  • Order food inventory
  • Complete annual inventory of food and supplies each spring

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain respectful relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Attend periodic training, workshops, and meetings as required
  • Maintain confidentiality in financial matters, student information, and other aspects related to the hot lunch program

Other Responsibilities

Includes other responsibilities identified as needed by the employee and approved and/or assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications:

  • Competence in food ordering and preparation
  • Supervisory skills
  • Education and training: High School diploma or equivalency and experience in the foodservice industry

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
