- Job Status: Part-time
- Hours: Approximately 4 hours per week; 208 hours per year
- Reports to: Associate Pastor
- POSITION SUMMARY: The mission of St. Stephen’s Catholic Community is to seek, love, and serve Jesus Christ. In faithful pursuit of this mission, St. Stephen’s is seeking a Hispanic Ministry Music Coordinator. The Hispanic Ministry Music Coordinator serves as an integral member of the parish staff, sharing responsibility for the needs, assessment, planning, implementation, and operations of parish Hispanic ministries. Oversees liturgical life by managing the music ministry for Spanish Masses. Advocates for Hispanic needs within the parish community.
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner, which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, nor can it embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. It is required that this employee be Catholic.
- ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Music
- Provides and leads music for Spanish liturgies in the parish (i.e. Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, Holidays, and Special Feasts).
- Plans music for all Spanish Masses services and organizes practice with volunteer musicians and chorus in advance of the liturgies.
- Is available to lead music or arrange for musicians at special events. (i.e. Our Lady of Guadalupe, quinceañera, bodas, prayer events, weddings, baptisms…).
- Work in collaboration with the Liturgy staff to continually enhance liturgical experiences at St. Stephen's.
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Associate Pastor.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual preferred in Spanish and have the ability to correspond by reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.
- Ability to sing and play the piano.
- Proficiency in music literacy.
- Strong leadership skills in directing an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists.
- Ability to perform administrative tasks in an organized, efficient, and effective manner.
- Demonstrate a kind demeanor, be patient, and provide a positive impression of the Catholic Church and St. Stephen’s community in their encounters with others.
- Be present and ready to work and on time for scheduled hours.
