Job Description: St. Stephen’s Catholic Community Bilingual Administrative Assistant & Coordinator for Liturgy and Formation
Job Status: Part-time
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week; evenings and weekends
Reports to: Associate Pastor, Faith for Life Director
Responsible for organizing Latino ministries in Faith for Life formation, worship, liturgies, and RCIA conversion to the Catholic faith.
General administrative duties include:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, Google Forms, parish records database, and various media sites
- Assist in facilitating bilingual Faith for Life formation registration
- Facilitate bilingual communication to families and students via FlockNote distribution, email, and phone
- Update and maintain Spanish content for the parish website and bulletin
- Assist with sacramental record-keeping, sacramental requests, and sacramental certificates
- Provide necessary materials and support needed for adult Catechesis in Spanish
- Coordinate and prepare celebrations for Latino baptisms, RCIA, quinceañeras, and Latino weddings
- Translate Prayers of the Faithful and announcements
- Recruit Latino volunteers
- Liaison for Latino ministries to build community for this local church
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong oral and written bilingual communication skills
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish
- Strong customer service and administrative skills
- Ability to respond to directives and be involved in multiple projects as needed
- Able to respect sensitive information with confidentiality
- Work in an ecclesial/parish setting is preferred
- Ability to collaborate as a team in a multicultural community
- Flexibility to work various nights and weekends throughout the year
- Complete the ‘Essential 3’ requirements (Background check, code of conduct, and Virtus training
- Knowledge of the Latino culture, customs, and liturgical rites
- Knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church and Catechesis
- Read and speak English fluently
- Read, speak and write Spanish proficiently
- Committed to parish vision and values
- Faith-filled and spiritual person
- Organized, punctual, responsible
- Able to respond to directives and work on various tasks simultaneously
- Able to collaborate with others
